The picture opens to a speakeasy, rooted in nostalgia, allowing all who enter to escape the drudgery of everyday routine. There are no such things as repetition, or boredom in the prestigious Cherry Lounge, known mainly for its great food, great drinks, and great people.
Did anybody mention, the occasional karaoke?
There are no bright lights to welcome Smokin' Joe Seward to the microphone
Only a small spotlight rests on him
And maybe that is good
After all, ol' Joe did spill spaghetti on his tie earlier
No bright lights
But plenty of shine
The UWA Hardcore Champion takes his pick of karaoke music. Something with class seems to suit Joe best.
Joe gives the signal and the music starts.
Joe - Start speradin' the news....I'm leavin' ta day!
The sound of Sinatra and Seward fill the small Tuesday evening crowd at the famous
Cherry Lounge.
Joe - And find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap!
And as the alcohol flows, so do the thoughts of the small Tuesday crowd. The sound of New York, New York, brings various thoughts to the forefront.
Taxis, Christmas, Tony Bennett, Times Square, Broadway, Grand Central Station, Central Park, and the Yankees
Joe - A number one......theeeeeeesssseeeeee little town blues......are melllllting away!
Suddenly Mark speaks up to his girlfriend
"I'm going!"
"I'm going to star in a play in New York! "
"It may not be Broadway, but I will go anyway!"
Joe - If I can make it there....I'm gonna make it anywhere.....
Suddenly Jesse speaks up to her fiancée.
"Let's go see the sights of New York for our honeymoon!"
"Let's just go east and see it all!"
Joe - It's up to you, New Yorrrk, New Yorrrrrrrrrrk.........
New Yorrrrrrrrrrrrrk!!!!!!!!
And so Smokin' Joe Seward finishes his karaoke
To a generous round of applause
And
Suddenly
What started as a simple song
Has
Lead
To thoughts of heading east
And making a brand new start
While
Waking up to a place that never sleeps
Way to go Joe!
