The picture opens to the front porch of a well maintained Victorian home
The porch and shutters reflect much attention and detail
The siding is a light blue and the shutters are pearl white
The picket fence, which surrounds the healthy, green, lawn, holds true a pristine white
There are many picture perfect homes on this block
Yet this one paints it best
On the porch sits one
Smokin' Joe Seward
His tie loosened from his shirt
The bottles of polish decorate a small table next to his wicker chair
And Joe works
Giving the UWA Hardcore Title a spit shine
With the circular motions of the rag, Smokin' Joe cleans and polishes all of his dreams
And from across the street
Through the window of another perfect Victorian home
Comes the sound of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata
Joe stops his polishing of the UWA Hardcore Title
The Music draws Joe in
Through the window comes the mellow yet eerie tone
Written from Beethoven's mind
Joe sets his rag and UWA Hardcore Title on the small table
Standing from his wicker chair, Joe leans over the patio, listening to a truly enchanting rhythm
And the minutes pass
The Moonlight Sonata fades
And soon after, out emerges Lucy, an elderly woman, preparing to water her flowers on her front porch
Joe walks down the steps of his patio
Lucy begins to water her flowers as she adjusts a sweater wrapped around her shoulder
Joe crosses the street and walks to the bottom of Lucys patio
Joe - Excuse me.
Lucy stops her watering
Lucy - Yes sir?
Joe - I couldn't help but hear that wonderful tune you was a playin' on your piano.
Lucy - Oh.....I didn't realize you could hear me.
Joe - Your window be open.
Lucy turns to see her patio window wide open, the curtains blowing softly in the wind
Lucy - Sorry.
Joe - Naw, don't say sorry! What be the name of that tune?
Lucy lets out a shy chuckle as she sets her water bucket down
Lucy - That was called the Moonlight Sonata. It was written by composer Ludwig Von Beethoven.
Joe - Beethoven?! Ya don't say.
Lucy - I was playing the first of the three movements.
Joe - Really?! Well I sure liked it. Ya play the piano very well.
Lucy - I've played since I was a little girl. The Moonlight Sonata was always my favorite.
Joe - Wonder how a guy could write somethin' like that?
Lucy - Well, Beethoven was in love with a seventeen year old Countess named Giulietta Guicciardi. Maybe that is how he got his inspiration?
Joe lets out a whistle
Joe - Wow!
Lucy - As the young crowd calls it, robbing the cradle.
Joe and Lucy share a laugh
Joe - Well thank you for playin'.
Lucy - And thank you for listening.
Joe gives a smile and turns, walking back towards his Victorian home
Lucy - Good luck against Judas.
Joe stops and turns around, a little shocked
Lucy - Mr. Seward, I have sons and grandsons you know? I also have a satellite dish. I inevitably learn of these pay per view things. And, you do polish that silly belt of yours almost everyday on that porch.
Joe - Well, I am impressed.
Lucy - You defend that title well.
Joe - I will now.
And so
Joe heads back towards his porch to finish polishing the UWA Hardcore Title
Lucy finishes her flowers
The haunting sounds of the Moonlight Sonata, will once again, float out through the window from across the street
*The Moonlight Sonata was written by Ludwig Van Beethoven in 1801. Know for its somber tone, Moonlight Sonata stands as the 14th of 32 sonatas. Despite being one of Beethoven's most noted and respected works, Moonlight Sonata was not one his favorites. "Surely I've written better things," Beethoven once said.*
